This would give the user an idea of the message arrival time.

Attachment: patch for adding timestamp functionality

this adds a pref, menu item in view menu and the timestamps befaore messages
when active. kind of like in mirc, which i personally don't like, because you
have mixed lines when you turn it on and off in one session - but hey, who does
that anyway?
i hope this thing can be applied. (and i hope that some day i'll understand
cvs.)

I think this would be better implemented as a column in the table that's always
there (right at the left, before nicknames?), which can then be toggled via CSS.

This would allow you to turn timestams on/off at any point, and always have a
consistent look to the chat window (and see timestamps for bits where it was
off, for example if you have it off mostly - though the status bar's good for that).

I'm dubious if we need to have any sort of format control, but personally I
*hate* the format used by the statusbar messages, so it might be an idea. :)

have resolved this bug; if it has not, please reopen it.
