User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20140421221237 Steps to reproduce: While doing benchmark testing on speed-battle.com, I closed Firefox and later tried to open it but was greeted with the "Firefox is already running" message. I had to End Task on the firefox.exe process in Task Manager in order to start the browser again. While it doesn't happen on every single instance, I am able to repro it 75% of the time. I have now seen it happen on Fx29b9/29.0RC on my home system and on a Dell here in my office. Actual results: I attempted to start Firefox to browse a web site but it told me it was already running. Had to use Task manager to kill the firefox.exe process. Expected results: From having previously shut it down, the firefox.exe process shout have quit allowing for a new browser session / process to be started.
Similar behavior to what was reported long ago in bug 503041, bug 539015 and bug 622268.
I can confirm this ever since updated to 29 Firefox no longer shutsdown correctly, I have to force shut it down threw taskmanager. I have tried New profiles, Safe mode with no addon and even uninistall and reininstal of FF and problem is still there.
I tried Fx 30b1 and it's still happening there as well with the same STR as Comment 0.

apparently clear on exit function is what is causing the hang in 29 or atlest that what alot people are reporting

If you or someone else seeing this is able to work out Steps To Reproduce it would help. You could then confirm the steps in an open bug or file your own Bug report.
