User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.9; rv:31.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/31.0 (Beta/Release)

Steps to reproduce:

Sending message with selected option to sign it with valid S/MIME certificate.

Actual results:

Thunderbird complains that it can't send message because it can't sign it.
This seems to happen only when sending only to some recipients.
If I send it to recipient which has an S/MIME cert, all is fine.

Expected results:

Message signed and sent.

this happens to me too. and we found out it maybe the problem of encoding type in DN.
we try several certificates ,only those witch DN encoded in BMPString can't sign message correctly, and the same error as Attachment #8425999 [details] .other certificates with DN encoded in UTF8String or printable all work find.

and ,what more ,with such BMPString-encoded certificate, when choose certificate in security tab ,the certificate name text-box show blank. we think this maybe because TB don't decode DN correctly. Witch make us more sure about reason of such failure.
