Start Thunderbird 31.0 (tested on Linux64), click Write to open a new email window (which BTW is always positioned in the top right corner, another annoyance). In the To: field, start typing a name which is stored in the Address Book, until there is an autocomplete suggestion, e.g. Knatterton, Nick <nick.knatterton@example.com> Upon pressing the Tab key you find in the first To: field: Knatterton and in the second To: field Nick <nick.knatterton@example.com> All of the name and address should remain in the first To: field.
