The lockscreen widget currently just restarts without prompting you if it needs to. That could lead to data loss for users. We should make sure there's some sort of "Are you sure" before people do that.

The point of this feature was quick access to the browser, so prompting seems like the wrong thing to do. Bug 897711 has an r+'d patch on it, which I think might accomplish what you're looking for.

note that lockscreen widgets were removed in Android 5.0

Widgets were removed in Oct-2017 and as the other comment mentions lock screen widgets are no longer a thing.
