On Windows 7 and up the installer proposes still add a icon to the no more visible Quick Launch Bar. And on Windows 8 the installer should pin the icon to the task bar when it is the default Application. This bug is to port bug 544672 and bug 621873 to Thunderbird.

Port them.
Tested on XP and Win8.
