When using a select box, I slowly chose an item. The context menu popped up, and
it wouldn't go away.
I was unable to access the window. Clicking the page didn't make the context
menu disappear.
The only way to make the context menu go away is to choose a menu item (e.g.
select all)
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. click the context menu to open the pull down.
2. press the mouse button down.
3. When the context menu appears, try to make it go away
Actual Results: I had to try 3 times to reproduce the bug. When it the context
menu popped up, I had to choose select-all to make it go away.
Expected Results: The context menu should always disappear when the document is
clicked.
Experienced similar context-menu problems with tabs and history buttons.
Menu does not disappear.
Tabs -sometimes menu item ("New Tab") is not activated.

WFM on Linux 2001110108. I tried the steps a number of times and couldn't
reproduce it.

I've been seeing this for the past few weeks, and I assumed someone
else (I know, I know) would file a bug against it, but it
I can confirm seeing this fairly often in recent OSX trunk builds.

Somebody needs to set the keyword: qawanted
until somebody else comes up with a
reproduceable test case. I don't have that permission.
Nor have I figured out the test case.
But I do have something cool to share...
HINT: Pressing the 'esc' key will escape the contextual menu.
It also escapes most dialogs with a cancel button.
The Cross-platform equivalent of
Apple's command-period keystroke.
I too have experienced the 'sticky' menu weirdness with recent OSX builds.
However, I have also been playing with mouse gestures as shortcuts.
http://optimoz.mozdev.org/gestures/
I had attributed the crazy menus to having a single-button mouse,
while everyone assumes you've got three & a wheel.
I'll disable MouseGestures and pay closer attention with

Now that I'm trying, it happened more than once as this:
hold mouse down on rightmost side of screen; forcing the menu to pop-up on the
left. Notice that the 'hot-spot' of the cursor's arrow is at the very edge of
the menu's box. Continue holding for a while, as if you were distracted.
Then move off the menu, then through without selecting anything. Now try to get
rid of the stuck menu.
I just experienced the same effect with the 'Back' button in the Navigation
ToolBar, pop-down history menu is stuck open. Not sure how I did that one
though. Amazingly, It survives opening new browser windows.
'Esc' key kills it as well.
I'm using the 'Classic' theme. Is anybody using a different theme?
Confirming per D. Walker, and setting 'qawanted' keyword per N. Morey.
Reducing Severity to Normal.

This is not just under MacOS X: same problem with MacOS 8.6.

I can confirm this using Mac OS 9.1 and 1002030108
Reproduceable: Almost always
To reproduce:
1. go to http://www.altavista.com/
2. Use the mouse to select any language other than English. (Actually, just
invoke the drop down menu and select any language to be exact).
3. A contextual menu appears(often in a random location on the screen) and no
other mouse clicks will get you out of the contextual menu. (Can confirm that
ESC exits the menu).
Actual result is the contextual menu after changing value in drop down list.
Expected result: change value in the drop down list without contextual menu.
Expected result(2)At the very least another mouse click outside of the
contextual menu should make it go away. Sometimes the contextual menu shows up
when I click in the location bar, but goes away after another click.
Here's another example, and it works with click-and-release as well as
click-and-hold
steps to reproduce:
http://money.cnn.com/funds/
Click on the Category select in the "Calculator", quickly
Wait a few seconds, make a selection.
actual: contextual menu pops up, as if the mouse were held done
expected: normal <select> selection.

I get the same sticky behavior for the "Back" history thingy,
the little triangle popup. It is very annoying.
If I hit Back, it selects the previous page.
If I hit the triangle, a history popup is displayed.
If I hit and hold the triangle,
the history popup is displayed immediately, as before.
But then, after a second of holding, the popup blinks
*as if it is being redrawn*, and then it is sticky.
I can get rid of it by escape or hitting the
triangle again.
This is on RC1, OS X 10.1.4.

bug 128333 is a possible dupe of this.
Re: cbsears in comment #11, sticky back/forward menus are bug 102330 (may or may
not be the same root problem as this)
Summary: contextual menu pop-up with long click won't go away (30% of time) → contextual menu pop-up gets stuck after long click (30% of time)
