Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:33.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/33.0
Build ID: 20141023194920

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open Google Maps
2. Switch to Earth view (no plugin, just the newer version of satellite view)
3. Zoom out a few steps
4. Earth view breaks

Happens even with a clean-profile FF.

Actual results:

The zoom of the satellite map initially displays as expected, but gets stucks after two or three zoom steps and eventually goes black, with the roads overlay still zooming in and out as normally.
Console says:
Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at https://kh.google.com/rt/earth/NodeData/pb=!1m2!1s3060416052!2u480!2e1!3u623!4b0. This can be fixed by moving the resource to the same domain or enabling CORS.
(plus tens of other URLs for the other map tiles). Works fine in Chrome though.

Expected results:

The satellite view should zoom in and out normally.

I've test it on my Fx33.1.1
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:33.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/33.0
Build id : 20141113143407
(It's surprising that my version is 33.1.1 and my user agent 33.0)
I can reproduce this bug.

On an other computer with Win Vista and Fx 33.1 (not updated to 33.1.1) I haven't this bug.
Same problem : (The zoom of the satellite map initially displays as expected, but gets stucks after two or three zoom steps and eventually goes black, with the roads overlay still zooming in and out as normally

A bug about street names not displayed in Google Maps has been fixed in bug 1085203. The bugfix should be in the next Beta (FF34), so could the users download Beta (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/beta/all/) and test to know if it's fixed or not?

I tried the FF34 beta. While the earth view now zooms out fine, the street/road overlay now disappears entirely in this view. The city names work as expected.

Bug 1085203 should be in the next beta (b10), you can try in a few days, I guess.
The bug is not solve for the moment.

Earth layer freeze
a. Go to https://www.google.fr/maps/place/Paris/@48.8588589,2.3470599,12z or https://www.google.fr/maps/place/46800+Montcuq/@44.340194,1.2198335,12z
b. click on the square on the left bottom "Earth"
c. Before the roads are loaded zoom some times (3 times for Paris example, 1 time is enough for the second example)
d. wait the time the roads are loaded.
Now when you zoom + or - the "earth layer" is freeze.

Loic how can I know the version of my beta to know when it's b10?

According to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1081497#c10 b10 is for today, so you can try to update manually tomorrow and test again.
Zooming seems to work fine now in beta 10 on my system.
I'm able to reproduce the issue with these STR:

(In reply to augeypl-bugzilla from comment #8)
> Earth layer freeze

But, I tested in the latest Nightly and it seems to be fixed by bug 912196.
Working range:
http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=a255a234946e&tochange=7e3c85754d32

In Beta (b10), it's fixed by bug 1085203.

In Aurora, I guess, it will be fixed by bug 1096634.

So, I close it as dupe of bug 1085203.
