Since Desktop is going to be using Fira Sans and Charis SIL for their Reader Mode experience, I think we should add support for Fira as well. 

We currently use Open Sans in our Reader mode, and about: pages, and I know that their are .APK size concerns. So, with that in mind, I've designed it to only support 2/3 weights of Fira Sans.

I think this feature should be blocked on the yet-unfiled-bug to put Fonts in Expansion APKs for Beta and Release.

N.B., although I think they're necessary, and I concur with Mark in Comment 1, using expansion files doesn't really address many of our space issues.

The user still has to download the same number of bytes, and the device still needs to have available storage -- it's just that the storage can be external (a meaningless distinction on many devices), and we avoid bumping into the 50MB hard limit for the main APK.

We should still be very judicious about adding byte-heavy features.

In addition to space issues, we also need to be concerned about language support, which is also an issue that affects desktop.
