Windows 98 build 2001112903: 1) Select Bookmarks->File Bookmark There is a button to use the default bookmark folder. This doesn't make sense, because just clicking "OK" is the default, so this button is either redundant, or being applied differently. In the case that it is being applied differently, an alternate description is in order. I don't think "Use Default" is working for me, anyway. Will file a bug on that issue later if it still doesn't work as expected.

Chris, Keeping in the spirit of "one issue per bug" which was explicitly mentioned in bug 68109, this shouldn't be a duplicate. This does duplicate the fact that "Use Default" doesn't work, but only in passing. The central issue is that it is redundant. If it truly is a "default" it should be applied when you do nothing and hit "OK". Changing summary for clarity. Please explain why I am wrong, or I will re-open this. :)
Summary: Use Default is illogical → Use Default is redundant
In Bookmark Manager->View you can select a folder to be the default bookmarks folder, so the defualt button should put the bookmark in there. If you read Blake's comment (#22) in bug 68109, he explains that there is no way to hook up default bookmark folder at this time. Say you select a folder to file the bookmark in, but don't file it yet. Then you change your mind and decide to put it in the default folder, wherever that is. That's why I don't think this button is redundant, I just think it doesn't work. If you still disagree with me (you wouldn't be the first), feel free to reopen and get someone else's opinion (Blake is in change of this).
Actually, there is a way to hook it up, we're just not doing it properly at this time. Hopefully I can get to doing it the right way soon.
I see your point, but this is still confusing. I think the expected UI for returning a window's settings to a known state is to have a "Clear" or "Reset" button, which is usually in the lower right (in this case higher than the "OK" button, though), away from the other buttons, and when the user is in the known state, it should be disabled. Reopening on these grounds. So I don't forget, I will note that the window should select the default folder on open, thus the "Reset" button will be disabled on open. This probably can't be implemented yet, as noted in previous remarks.

I think this is a dup of bug 68625, "Add Bookmark should show root bookmarks folder".

I see no point in having bookmarks using a different save mechanism than "Save As...".
this checkbox no longer exists in the File Bookmark dialog.
