Would like to replace the Message Thread Pane "Priority" column text with icons.

Currently the Priority column displays: "Highest", "High", "Low" and "Lowest". 
Normal messages display nothing.

Would like to use priority icons instead. They would take up less space than the 
text and would be more meaningful visually.

Four icons needed:
Highest
High
Low
Lowest

Updating multiple bugs. This is a valid UI issue. Would be nice to have it fixed
if time allows.

With icons we could indicate the priority of a clearly. Now I just not see what
priority is the mail from the sender, so I missed some of hihg priority mails.

I'll contribute a icons for this (they will make owr designer). 

The question is: dimensions. How big they should be. My idea is to use an
envelop with different colors or better diffetently colored part of it.

I suggest we just need to unit the priority, status and read icon in one column,
so we have more space for subject etc.

I see it as an envelope red/green etc for priority, with some arrows for status
(I already saw it in some other bug) and closed/open envelope for read/unread.
BTW such a scheme is used in The Bat! mail client www.ritlabs.com

sspitzer, is it possible to unit it? If yes, we may contribute icons for this,
if someone says that this will be defenetly go in Mozilla.

I'll second that question.  I have several users who just switched from Mail.app on macs to Thunderbird on PCs.  The Tiger Mail theme helps a lot, but a few users heavily used priorities, and this difference is bothering them.

Until this bug is not fixed Priority Switcher (not only) extension can be used as a workaround - http://hogi.a.orn.jp/en/index.html (Thunderbird only).
