From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:0.9.6+) Gecko/20011206
BuildID: 20011206
I have some cards and want to add them to mail list. I make new list, double
click on it and drag selected cards to the window. Ok, they are in. BUT, if I
exit mozilla and re-run it, the mail list is empty.
Reproducible: Always
Actual Results: Names disappear.
Expected Results: Names should be in the list.
Drag and drop to add people to a new mailing list works fine here with
2001-12-07-03 under W2K. After a Moz restart, the addreses are still there.

I still haven't figured out what's wrong. I made a completely new user with new
cards and new mail list, drag drop and still nothing. It looks like there are
some files that are read only and moZilla can't write changes, but there aren't
any readonly marked files in any of user's. Could be the Windows registry? (but
as far as I remember, I have this problem for a long time (reinstalled Windows
many times), but never used much Addressbook).

I'm definetely getting this on build 2001-12-12, winNT, fresh profile :(
Since this is a feature that companies rely on (e.g., all department heads, or
all employees on marketing dept., etc.), I suggest to add the following
keywords: 4xp, mozilla0.9.8, nsbeta1, nsbranch, nsCatFood, nsenterprise (reporter?)

Trunk build 2001-12-13-03: WinMe
Reproduced the problem when using drag-n-drop. If I type the email address in
the list dialog then these entries are saved even after an exit/restart.

Could this be related to Message Filters not sticking accross sessions (bug 114838)?
[OT]
Every time i get bugmail from this bug, I have to re-read the bug description
because the summary isn't clear enough. Could you please change the summary to:
"Added Address Cards don't remain in Mailing List after Reloading Mozilla"

reassigning to Seth since he's already been looking at the drag and drop code.
This is pretty bad. I'm not sure how often people will create mailing lists
like this but since we let them this isn't good!
I put in 0.9.8 since Seth is currently in the AB drag and drop code, but if
that's changed, we can move this out.

is this a dup of the problem where when you drop multiple cards into the
mailing list, we enter them all on the same line, instead on their own lines?
when I drop 4 cards, it puts them all on one line in the mailing list, so I
lose all but the first card when I hit ok.
either way, this is bad.

Yeah... it adds them to one line, but seperate them with commas, which is bad.
It definitely needs fixing before the final release.

Reporter: When you multi-select then drag-n-drop the addresses into the list,
you state that they appear on one line and are separated by commas
(i.e. address1, address2, address3). After an exit/restart do you see the first
one at all or are all of them gone (address1, address2, address3)?

If I select multiple cards and drag them into list, they are seperated with
commas. I exit and re-view the list. THE FIRST CARD REMAINED IN THE LIST. Others
dissapeared. I used latest (4th January) build.

Mozilla 0.97 on Linux/KDE. I encountered the same problem whether or not I use
drag and drop. Entered new addresses into a new mailing list in a new address
book and after closing the address book and re-opening, the addresses are gone.
Also, the address book never displays the addresses in the right pane of the
address book. However, an old address book that I imported correctly displays
the addresses in the right pane. Don't know if it's related.

Clarification on that last part: The addresses in newly created mailing lists
aren't displayed in the right pane. I have to click the Properties buttons to
view them.

Summary Results after additional testing.
- Moz 097: Linux, I was able to reproduce the problem with cards not appearing
in the right pane. The problem was easily reproduced when the cards being
dragged-n-dropped (or typed via autocomplete) into a list resided in the same
address book.
- Trunk build 2002-01-16-08: Linux, In the latest build it appears that
performing a drag-n-drop only saves the 1st email address so I'm not seeing the
original problem stated in this bug.
Here are more details if you are interested....
Mozilla build 097: Linux RH 7.1
If I drag-n-drop cards (or type) entries from an address book to a list in the
same address book then the cards do not display in the right if the list is
selected in the left pane.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Select the Personal Address Book in the directory pane (left)
2. Have some entries in the Personal Address Book (i.e. 5 entries)
3. Select the New List button and give it a List Name
4. Drag-n-drop (or type so that it autocompletes)entries from the Personal
Address Book into the list, OK to close the list.
5. Select the list in the directory pane (left)
Actual Results: The right pane is blank
Expected Results: The entries should appear in the right pane
Using the Trunk build 2002-01-16-08: Linux RH 7.1
1. Drag-n-drop results in only the 1st email address being saved.
a. PAB: * Drag-n-drop entries from PAB to a list in PAB and only 1 entry is
saved and appears in the right pane (if the list is selected in directory pane)
b. New AB: * Drag-n-drop entries from PAB to the list into the New AB, same
results as "a".
c. New AB: * Drag-n-drop entries from the New AB to a list in the New AB and
same results as "a".
2. Type entries (so it uses auto-complete) and these entries are saved and
appear in the right pane as expected for all scenarios (1a, 1b, 1c).
Maybe this bug should be closed and another one be opened for the "Drag-n-drop
into a list resulting in only saving 1 email" issue.
