When there are spamming users or other problems users do not know know to contact an ircop to get help. <flod:#moc> any IRCcop around for #gaia (user chair and folding_chair)? <pir:#moc> sorry, we're not ircops <flod:#moc> I know, but at this point I still don't know where to find any besides asking here (if there's a better way, please tell) ;-) There are no useful pointers in the irc motd or in the help URL listed there: https://wiki.mozilla.org/IRC We can suggest they email ircadmins@mozilla.org but that isn't helpful for urgent problems and there are normally no ircops awake/responsive in EU timezones.
It might be helpful to have a public facing #ircops. And probably an "!emergency" command in that channel that notifies all IRC OPs like I've been told saying "ircops" or "irc ops" (though my memory fails as to which one) does in #it and #moc.
We're investigating various options for improving this situation, I'll update again when I have details

What options are these, per chance?
I am an irc network operator (not IRC Operator) in an other IRC network (Onlinegamesnet.net) and i could tell how we are handeling such issues. We have an generell #help channel where all users join, which having serveral troubles. The channel is maintained by all IRC staffler (Supporter, Networkhelper and IRCOPs). If we need an IRCOP, we have an internal System to notify them or writing them emails. In time of smartphones we get normally in a very short of time an IRCOP online.
As a first step, we've made pir an oper, and he operates on EU time.

Happy to assist if you need additional coverage. I'm based in Australia, so my timezone could come in handy (for once) as most of the US is sleeping while I'm awake. Have knowledge of InspIRCd and Anope, along with others.
coverage isn't the issue - the MOC have 24/7 coverage (not to mention the offices open during this off-peak time, such as NZ and Taipei). imho the MOC should all be ircops with playbooks for the common scenarios, as well as a clear/obvious way for users to contact ircops (MOTD, dedicated channel).
(In reply to Byron Jones ‹:glob› from comment #9) > imho the MOC should all be ircops with playbooks for the common scenarios, > as well as a clear/obvious way for users to contact ircops (MOTD, dedicated > channel). We are working on this very solution..
We've added sufficient ops personnel from the MOC. At this point I'm inclined to closing this out.
