From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.78 [en] (Win98; U) BuildID: 20020123 I export the bookmark from Mozilla to IE's famorite. When I load Mozilla next time, Mozilla automatically imports favouite from IE. However, if the original Mozilla' bookmark contains double-byte characters, such as Chinese (I'm a Chinese) & Japanese, "all" bookmarks (includes the original and the one imported from IE) will become "code". This error happened in early Mozilla build such as 0.9.5. I reported this error before, but at that time I didn't descripted it well because I didn't make sure what error. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Export bookmarks which have Chinese characters from Mozilla 2. Import this bookmark file to IE 5 3. Load Mozilla again, and those bookmarks in Chinese become "code" Actual Results: can't see Chinese (and Japanese) Bookmarks in English would be fine. Expected Results: Option to disable automatical import favorite from IE or fix this bug. I guess.... the reason is Mozilla's bookmarks are encoded by unicode, however IE's favorite are in Big-5, so when IE favorite are imported, the Big-5 mixed up with Unicode. This is just my guessing....

Old Summary: language coding error from import bookmark from IE New Summary: language coding error from import favorites from IE Reporter, could you please try this again. Work was recently done on the IE Favorites import, and it might have solved the problem.
Summary: language coding error from import bookmark from IE → language coding error from import favorites from IE
Hi, The problem is still existing. As shown in the attached picture, the bookmark imported from IE is still unreadable. Also, the existing Mozilla's bookmarks are also unreadable too. Moziila's bookmarks are fine (show Chinese characters properly) before importing favorite from IE. The solution is I can't have any favorite in Chinese as title in IE, or simple earse all Favorite; otherwise the Mozilla's bookmarks will be corrupted. PS : I email you the attached picture since I can't load the image on bugzilla. Thanks. Kay

Is this occurring in the dynamic IE favorites folder or the new static one? The dynamic one is now/will be turned off by default.

for hebrew. this is accoring when impoorting from a static file exported from ie
I still see this bugs in latest released build 2002031106 (0.9.9) This is exactly what you should do to see this bugs, 1) Load Mozilla, then go this site http://appledaily.atnext.com, bookmark it in Mozilla. (this is a popular online newspaper in Chinese. Please note that this bugs not only appear on this site, but ALL Chinese and Japanese sites with double-byte characters as title) 2) Quit Mozilla, 3) Load IE and go to the same site again, file it into Favorite. 4) Quit IE 5) Load Mozilla again, and the original bookamrk bookmarked by Mozilla becomes "code" as well as the same bookmark in the "Import from IE favorite folder" I test on the nightly built too, but no fixed yet. This is very severe bugs since the IE favorite will corrupt the Mozilla's bookmark. However, if you just read English, it doesn't harmful.
