This is just a tracking bug for Mozilla's handling of IE Favorites. There are a few different areas where Mozilla needs to be improved. These areas include performance, functionality, and user interface. I don't think this is a duplicate of bug 106326, since that does not appear to be a tracking bug.

I'm trying to add bug 56765 ("IE Favorites need to emulate 'real' bookmarks") as a dependency. This bug had a lot of good ideas about ways to improve Mozilla's handling of IE Favorites. I don't understand why it was closed as WONTFIX. The suggestions included: - include option to handle IE Favorites differently than default, e.g. - import IE Favorites rather than linking to them, so that they can be manipulated, renamed, filed, etc. - use IE's Favorites (and .URL files) instead of own bookmark.htm, so that you'll still have a system-wide system usable by any browser
Depends on: 56765

AS much as I truely love Mozilla (I use it as my primary browser) there are still some sites that "require" IE. In those cases I must use that clunckly and unsecure unsecure web browser know as IE. Unfortunately, if I save bookmarks in Mozilla, there is no way to get them to show up in IE automatically. For those of use that are tied to this **** software (IE) for one reason or another (yes Mozilla is great and holds certain promise, but is not perfect, it would be nice to set up an option that allows me to essentially mirror the IE favorites so that if I want to create/save/edit/delete a bookmark in Mozilla or a favorite in IE/Windoze, it updates automatically in each browser w/o having to import and export. Notice I say option, so the user has a choice (isn't that what OSS is all about). At any rate, a big thank you to all of the Mozilla developers, you have made a truely great product.

> an option that allows me to essentially mirror the IE favorites This is what bug 134535 is about. It used to work as you describe.

Could it be possible to add bug 180520 ? http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=180520 It deals with a display problem of accented chars imported from IE bookmarks, it has been marked as a duplicate of 134535 witch is not. Thanks

MASS-CHANGE: This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but has been without a comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project. This means that it was logged against the old Mozilla suite and we cannot determine that it's still valid for the current SeaMonkey suite. Because of this, we are setting it to an UNCONFIRMED state. If you can confirm that this report still applies to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it back to the NEW state along with a comment on how you reproduced it on what Build ID, or if it's an enhancement request, why it's still worth implementing and in what way. If you can confirm that the report doesn't apply to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it to the appropriate RESOLVED state (WORKSFORME, INVALID, WONTFIX, or similar). If no action happens within the next few months, we move this bug report to an EXPIRED state. Query tag for this change: mass-UNCONFIRM-20090614

MASS-CHANGE: This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but still has no comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project 5 years ago. Because of this, we're resolving the bug as EXPIRED.
