Attached file logcat of issue
Description:
Turning off screen reader in 2.5 makes phone unresponsive to on-screen touches until battery is taken out.

STR:
1) Flash to a Firefox OS 2.5 device
2) On Home Screen, press hardware buttons volume up, then volume down, and repeat this 5 more times to enable screen reader. Or enable it from Settings > Accessibility.
3) Browse a few items while in screen reader mode, then disable screen reader

Expected: Screen reader turns off and switches to non screen reader mode

Actual: Screen reader turns off, but screen does NOT respond to any kind of touches. This issue persists until battery is taken out (on Flame) or reflashed (on Aries). User can still re-enable screen reader using hardware volume buttons, but turning it off again still runs into this issue.

Repro rate: 5/5

Let's find out what fixed this in 2.6. It seems bad enough that fix should probably be uplifted to 2.5.

[Blocking Requested - why for this release]:

Yura the changes for bug 1220860 were apparently not enough to resolve this issue on 2.5. Can you please take a look here? Also marking this bug as a blocker based on bug 1217386 which was as well.

bug 1220860 doesn't look like it was applied in v2.5 branch. Once it's fixed it should work again.
