From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC; en-US; rv:0.9.8+) Gecko/20020201 BuildID: 2002020103 I have had to force-quit five times to day with this new version of Mozilla (it happens frequently with Netscape 6.2.1 also.) It has happened with many different pages, and with messages in the alt.binaries.models.rockets news group, but the page above is where it has happened mostly today (because I've been reading a lot its sub-pages.) What happens is that, after reading for a while, switching pages and paging up and down, I'll be scrolling either by dragging the scroll handle or by clicking on the up/down arrows and the page will just freeze, along with the system. Force-quit usually (but not always) kills it, but I then HAVE to reboot, since if I don't and try to run it again, it will invariably lock up the system to the point where I have to use the emergency reboot button. In the newsgroup it has frozen the same way when I've loaded a message with a large image. I'll click the up/down arrows, or click and hold them to scroll down, and it will freeze. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Go to page, scroll up, scroll down 2.Go to a sub-page, scroll up, scroll down, using up/down arrows or handle. 3. Go to step 2 until app freezes Actual Results: Page partially re-drew, watch cursor was displayed. System would not respond until force quit was issued. Expected Results: Scrolled properly.
Have you sent in a Talkback report? Does it only happen with this site?

This bug seems the same as #101055. Fix suggested there: switch from Millions of Colors to Thousands of Colors. Has worked for me for about 36 hours now.
Sairuh, can you reproduce this? I've heard two other people reporting this.

workforme on Mac os 9.2.2 (branch build: 2002-05-28-05-1.0.0) and (trunk build: 2002-05-28-03-TRUNK). Can anyone still reproduce this with the last build?
The suggested workaround in bug #101055 works on my system with 1.0RC3(20020523), MacOS 9.2.2, B&W G3 400 captured talkback from a freeze is TB7007371K
In my experience, the freeze usually occurs on large pages, or even in email with lots of content. (A friend sent an email with a bunch of pictures. Mozilla froze while scrolling through them.)
Can someone get the TB alluded to in Comment #6? Also, can you guys reproduce this problem using a new Mozilla user profile?

gar! 5 Netscaope-People (at least) read this and none looked at the TB? I guess a 2 month old TB ID isn't of any use, so try to crash again (with a recent build)

I have never encountered this problem with OS 9.1 on my G4 Cube and Tower. My wife has a G3 Tower with 9.1. She uses an ADB keyboard and trackball and computer will lockup within a few minutes when scrolling. I thought it might be related to ADB and switched to USB keyboard and mouse, but problem still occurred. Will try thousands of colors setting.
This problem still happend with Build 2002081803, but only when million-of-colors is selected. It doesn't seem to happen with thousands-of-colors.
Thousands of colors settings seems to work. Could not get Mac to freeze.
Mark, do you have some more current TalkBack IDs?
No update for a month. Resolving WFM. If this is still occurring, please feel free to reopen.
