User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:44.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/44.0 Build ID: 20160205155049 Steps to reproduce: Send an email without attachment via a POP account. (I have BCC to me activated in the account settings). Actual results: Often such a mail without attachment is sent with an unwanted (!) attachment named 'Part 1.2.2' which had been the original attachment of a email sent earlier, e.g. 'MyDocument.pdf'. In my case it was always a pdf file. In the new mail it is displayed at the bottom as 'Part 1.2.2 size unknown'. It happened 5 times in the past 3 days with different pdf files. It had always been the copy of the last pdf attachment I had sent with an earlier mail. It also happens with a fresh TB installation. Expected results: No unwanted attachment should be sent.

Additional information: I cannot reproduce the problem with e.g. yahoo accounts. I can only reproduce it with GMX accounts - gmx.de to be precise. When composing GMX mails with Thunderbird, the headers for attachments in source view look completely different when comparing them to the headers in yahoo mails I send with my Thunderbird. With GMX mails composed with Thunderbird the headers look like this: Content-Type: application/pdf Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-ID: <part1.070430003.02050806@gmx.de> You have e.g.part14.xxxxxxx.xxxxxxx@gmx.de instead of the file name which is displayed in the source of yahoo mails composed with Thunderbird. And quite often Thunderbird shows me application/jpeg with a correctly and intentional sent pdf file. Something is definitely wrong here...

BTW, in the meantime I installed the add-on 'Expression Search / GMailUI 0.9.1-let-fixed'. It works perfectly, also when searching for names or fragments of names of attachments. But when I search for 'part' or 'part 1.2.2' it does not find those unwanted attachments. I can only find them manually and I found a few more... back until August 2015. When I e.g. look at the mails in my Sent Folder, there are only 'paper clip' icons in front of mails with intentional attachments. However, when I click on an email with an unwanted attachment, also there a 'paper clip'icon appears and then it stays there forever. The way an unwanted attachment is being attached must be different from the way an intentional 'authorized' attachment is being attached to a message.

Hello, i have the same problem here with TB 45.4.0. Unwanted Business PDF`s are attached with filename "Teil 1.1.2.2". I can`t reproduce it. it happend random. It seems TB is attaching a PDF from an earlier sent email. This is a critical bug. I will remove all TB from our machines till this is fixed.

If so, how many? Were these emails which had zero attachments specified prior to sending? And what addons are installed on these machines?

Our company wanted to switch from Outlook to TB. We`re using 3 machines with TB right now. We didn`t recognized this behavior before, only while our ceo checks some "sent mails" he found this 1.1.2.2 file (PDF, it was a pricelist that wasn`t for this client) We`re only running lightning. And no, no priority sete on this emails.

Maybe also for your interest. We are using a proxy for incoming and outgoing messages (local server for mail archiving). So the SMTP and POP servers are local IP`s from our Server.
