User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/48.0.2564.116 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

Answered to an eMail and attached a single PDF file.

Actual results:

After sending it I checked the eMail I've sent and realized, Thunderbird had attached 2 more files saying "Part 1.1.2.2" and "Part 1.1.2.3". Now I also realized that Thunderbird had automatically saved this eMail several times as a draft without any attachments. As soon as I clicked on each draft, suddenly attachments appeared. These attachments have no filename extension, but open automatically with the PDF viewer. These files have not even been saved in the same folder as the real attachment. And it happened only by replying to a specific recepient.

Expected results:

The send eMail should have only the attachment I attached, but not the two extra ones.

Sorry, but the report in comment #0 sounds a little incredible, or lets say, like a hotchpotch of problems. Without seeing a message attached here, we can't do anything.

Surely, we had bugs where superseded drafts reappeared (finally all squashed in 45.3). Surely TB creates multiple MIME parts (if you use signing/encryption, even more). Surely you can display them (View > Message Body As > All Body Parts) and surely TB also at times shows erroneous attachment icons next to messages which don't have an attachment.

So attach a message which has unwanted attachments and we'll look at it.
