I'm planning to work on an introspection tool some time next week that would allow to:
- dump a list of all configuration items set and what is involved in them being set
- dump a list of all defines set and what is involved in them being set
- dump a list of all implied options and is involved in implying them
- possibly have more elaborate diagnostics than the ones running configure gives

I'm not sure what form this will have yet (separate script? special option to configure? ...)

Let's add this to the list:
- dump a list of templates with their docstring.
