My understanding is that the container tab type is communicated both visually on the tab itself and also via a label to the right of the Address bar. While it's possible to get to the label using screen reader review functionality, this is very tedious and not easily discoverable. It'd be great if we can find some way to efficiently expose the container tab type for the current tab (so one can quickly ascertain which tab type is active when switching without explicitly using the browser tab bar). My first thought is that this could be exposed as part of the browser title bar, which would enable a screen reader user to easily figure out which tab type is active when entering the window, querying with a screen reader's "report title" command or alt+tabbing through windows. However, I'm guessing this possibly won't fly. I haven't come up with a useful alternative solution yet. :(

Note that the container type is exposed on tabs in the tab bar after bug 1410757.
CC'ing Gijs so he's aware of this UI piece to the new feature as well.

  1. on the individual browser tabs (to help when switching);

I did this in bug 1410757. Adjusting this bug accordingly.
