Hi Christa,

It would be helpful if there was some context here in the bug that explains when each of these states should be displayed.

The CTA button on sync_02.png reads "Sign in/Create Account". This implys that it should be shown regardless of whether or not the user is signed into Sync. Is that correct? If this is correct, then what state should sync_01.png (the mobile buttons) be shown for? I had assumed sync_01.png was for when the user was already signed into Sync, but the two images seem to be a bit contradictory.

Perhaps "Sign in/Create Account" is just placeholder text, I'm not too sure (the casing is also a bit odd here). Some clarity here would be great. Thanks

The Sync CTA button itself goes to: about:accounts?action=signup, so it seems it should definitely be shown only for users who are not signed in. With this in mind, I'm going to propose we just use the CTA text: "Create Account". Let me know if this is OK.

For users who are already signed in, I'll show the mobile buttons as originally planned. I do wonder if we also need some text to help explain that the user is already signed in however, as the mobile buttons alone may not make that obvious.

My last question is: what should users on Firefox for Android and Firefox for iOS see? Both of those platforms support Sync, although we can't detect whether or not they are signed in.
Hi Alex -

I'm looking at the original brief:

I agree with you, let me check with Krishna on some good copy here.

Using Firefox and Not Logged In
sign up / sign in - I am fine with just 'Create Account' here per your reasoning above.

Still seeking some guidance on this question. The brief doesn't seem to cover these states, but we need to cater for them somehow. The current iteration of the page displays some generic text for iOS and Android users:

"Sign into your Firefox Account to access your protected passwords, open tabs and bookmarks. Add Firefox to your personal devices and securely connect your browsing experience everywhere. Keep everything set up how you like it, wherever you go."

We don't have enough real estate in the header to do this, so we need to think of an alternative (or some shorter text).

Hi Alex & Christa - Here's the discussed copy for the two cases on the Send Tabs and Sync pages. Let me know if you feel this covers it.

1. Send tabs
1A. Desktop (w/mobile buttons)
<h1>Take your tabs to go
<h2>View your open tabs across desktop, mobile and tablet. Sign in or create a Firefox account to get started.

<Copy above iOS/Android buttons>
Get the app

1B. Mobile (already using Fx)
<h1>Take your tabs to go
<h2>View your open tabs across desktop and tablet too. Just sign in or create a Firefox account.

2. Sync
1A. Desktop (w/mobile buttons)
<h1> Sync across devices
<h2> Sign in or create a Firefox account through the browser or app to view open tabs, passwords and bookmarks instantly.

<Copy above iOS/Android buttons>
Get the app

1B. Mobile (already using Fx)
<h1> Browse uninterrupted with Sync
<h2> Sign in or create an account through your Firefox app for seamless browsing of passwords, bookmarks and open tabs.

I'm not sure we need to say "Sign in or create a Firefox account to get started." here as we know the user is already signed in and using Sync?

> 2. Sync
> 1A. Desktop (w/mobile buttons)

Same here, this state is for desktop users who are already signed in.

Perhaps we could say something along the lines of "Sign in to your Firefox Account on mobile or tablet to..."
For mobile users on Firefox we don't have any kind of CTA, so I'm going to suggest we use some SUMO links with the button text "Learn more":

Hi Alex - Good point.

Sync: (mobile/sign in state)
h2 - "Sign in to your Firefox Account on mobile or tablet to view open tabs, bookmarks and passwords."

Sync: (mobile/sign in state)
h2 - "View your open tabs across mobile and tablet devices by signing in to your Firefox Account."

> "Sign in to your Firefox Account on mobile or tablet to view open tabs, bookmarks and passwords."

Nit pick: you can't view passwords per-say.

Maybe "Sign in to your Firefox Account on mobile or tablet to get your open tabs, bookmarks and passwords anywhere." ?
Ha, deal!

CTA states to test:

1. Firefox signed into Sync
2. Firefox signed out of Sync
3. Non-Firefox
4. Firefox for iOS
5. Firefox for Android
6. Old Firefox (v < 31)

Note: to test signed in/out functionality on Desktop you will need to enable uitour for https://bedrock-demo-agibson.us-west.moz.works/ using these instructions: http://bedrock.readthedocs.io/en/latest/uitour.html#local-development

Gareth, can you please take a look at the CTA's here to make sure we get them tracked in GA? If you have any querstions or need any changes, please let me know.
