(Whiteboard: [necko-triaged])
[Affected versions]:
- Firefox 61.0
- Firefox 62.0b7
- Nightly 63.0a1
[Affected platforms]:
- Windows 10 x64
- macOS 10.12
- Ubuntu 16.04
[Steps to reproduce]:
1. In a new tab go to this link: ftp://cyberghost.pro:80/pro.php
2. Observe behaviour.
[Expected result]:
- Browser must inform you that ftp is not used at this address.
[Actual result]:
- Windows and mac: a blank page is displayed.
- Ubuntu: Nothing happens. The new tab is still displayed.
[Regression range]:
- I don't think this is a regression. I can reproduce this behaviour even on a build from 2008-01-03.
[Additional notes]:
- On Chrome, Safari and Edge an error is displayed that the site can't be reached or that the page is not working.

Connection errors are empty text instead of error pages. (comment 0)
After bug 1560699 an empty file is offered to download as it's not an error page or a directory listing.
This bug should be fixed to reduce confusion.
bug 1565433 may be a duplicate.
