:Aryx and I have noticed that Bug 1496114 Comment 9 and Bug 1479964 Comment 22 added :overholt as QA Contact, and looks like both were not manually added by the users. Both are Core bugs, and comments are posted within the last 3 hours. There might be more. I haven’t seen any change to the Core product’s QA Contact recently. Is this normal?

The QA contact gets added if one clicks on "Edit bug" and the QA contact is empty but has a default value (shown in gray). That one will be applied on submission.

I’m not following many Core bugs but haven’t seen this kind of behaviour before. Just like Default CC (Bug 1473241), unintended field changes may confuse users regardless of whether it’s a bug or not, therefore I consider this as an UX issue.

This is the result of an intentional change of the qa contacts on a bunch of components.
There's a discussion underway about this issue.
(and I agree with kohei that this is a UX issue)
