I might be underestimating how hard this might be, but it seems to me that those two seem equivalent and replacing one with the other would allow getting rid of the text-link binding.

One difference between text-link and a[href] is that text-link always opens in the browser window, whereas a[href] opens the webpage in whatever window/dialog the link is in. One good news is that going from text-link to a[href] doesn't require many CSS changes.

Hey :anayocrescent2 unfortunately this bug can't really be worked on directly either. I've converted it to a meta bug to reflect the fact that we're going to start filing smaller bugs related to this work. Once those smaller bugs are filed there may be some that are good bugs to get started with though!
