From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.1a) Gecko/20020611
BuildID: 2002061104
I double clicked on Mozilla icon while computer booting up (startup icons
weren't done in lower right corner of screen). Taskbar became so filled with
Mozilla windows, it had up/down arrows to navigate it. I did CTRL/ALT/DEL and
ended Mozilla. It continued to open windows. I did Ctrl/Alt/Del again. Then
clicked "end task". Mouse moved cursor, but did nothing. Keyboard froze. Had
to manually shut down computer. When I rebooted, all the email I ever did on
Mozilla was gone. I had to set up a whole new email account.
Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start computer
2.While system tray icons appearing, double click on Mozilla icon
3.
Expected Results: Mozilla should have said, "Hey idiot, wait till I'm done
booting up!"
My computer is set up so that a single click will boot up programs.
My mouse/keyboard are connected through a 4-port Belkin switch.

I've encountered this bug about 8 times in the past few months, most recently
yesterday, Aug 13, 2002. I do not lose my e-mail but it creates thousands of
randomly named .XUL files in my /Windows/Temp folder. I must CTL/ALT/DELETE to
kill Mozilla. My system currently is Win 98 (first edition) using Mozilla
nightly from 20020806.
similar reports in bug 170496 and bug 176294.
Is this something that happens when quicklaunch is enabled?
correction:
There are two issues here. I meant this bug is similar to 170496 / 176294 APART
from the email issue. Which may or may not have been solved, separatly from the
launching loop problem
Reporter: How did you conclude that all your email was gone?
Were the files actually missing in the Mail folder on disk?
Or were they just not visible/account *seemingly* missing when you opened mail?
If the files were still on disk, this was likely "only" a corruption of prefs.js
- at some locateion before the mail accounts are listed.

Reporter,
Please try with a more recent nightly build to see if the original problem still
occurs. The other bugs mentioned here are resolved.
Regarding the email- prefs.js problem- see bug 147822- where is your profile
data stored?
