Yes, that definitely should be fixed! Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I am currently working on task retrigger and restart via Checks API that our team will be able to use (well, I'm focused on a worker-manager for a moment, but this is something I had started) [1].
Android components use Statuses API at the moment, restarting a task from github UI is impossible with that API. They will need to use Checks. Also, Checks need to work with decision tasks, which they currently don't[2]
