Wow, that's quite a cluster of dependants on the Firefox Meta bug for Wayland support...

With the latest Firefox builds enabling Wayland by default, what's the status on this in Thunderbird? Martin, do you have an idea?

Flags: needinfo?(stransky)

AFAIK Thudnerbird will pick Wayland backend when it's rebased to next ESR line, i.e. Thunderbird 128.0+

Martin, bug 635134 has ~90 dependent bugs, will those all be fixed? For example bug 1872790 reports that sizemodechange is not fired under Wayland. That will lead to malfunction in TB:

I don't think so, unless they're important enough or they're actionable on our side. You may point out or comment if there's something important.

For example bug 1872790 reports that sizemodechange is not fired under Wayland.

bug 1872790 is about alternative wayland compositor and very rare desktop setup. Not sure it's even actionable on our side. I recommend to just try TB under Wayland. I think the only issue after X11->Wayland migration may be D&D code, I think message move between folders may work differently and needs some testing/fixing.

I suggest to run TB based on Firefox nightly - I think it's named Thunderbird Daily at https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/releases/ - and try it under Wayland.

This can be checked in FF in a "normal" desktop setup.

Okay, please update Bug 1872790 with details, how exactly it affects Firefox/Thunderbird. I've been using FF/TB under Wayland and I haven't noticed any issues related to size changes but I may use it differently and under Gnome/Mutter.
