(Reporter: xliiv, Unassigned)
Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/75.0.3770.100 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce:
I'm trying to switch to Firefox, but i'm blocked by password migration.
I was trying
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/switching-chrome-firefox
- https://github.com/louisabraham/ffpass
Actual results:
Ad 1
AFAIK importing passwords on Linux is impossible, because "passwords" can't be checked while doing the wizard
Ad 2
Imported passwords with this tool don't sync, see
https://github.com/louisabraham/ffpass/issues/11
Expected results:
There should be a feature which allows to import passwords from CSV file, because
- The current solution (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/switching-chrome-firefox) doesn't work for Linux
- External importing tools can easily get broken/obsolete, because they are being developed out of Firefox development loop.
- Import/export from CSV looks like a good generic way and is supported by other browser (i'm aware of at least one)
