Details
Nightly 70.0a1 20190719094503 with a notebook and a DELL P2415Q as second screen.
The picture-in-picture (pip) miniplayer with the video shall always open on the screen with the browser window which initialized it. Currently it always uses one screen of several screens available
Steps to reproduce:
- Open Firefox window on the notebook screen.
- Open any page with a video, e.g. Youtube or a news channel.
- Click on the PiP button on the center right of the video.
Current result:
Video player opened on second screen, not the one with the web page which launched it.
Expected result:
Video player also opens on notebook screen.

Hey Cristian, do you think you'd have some time to try to help me reproduce this? I have a Windows machine here with a secondary display, but I'm not having much luck reproducing this bug.

Build ID 20190723034754
User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:70.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/70.0
Hey Mike, I've managed to reproduce this issue. Here are the steps:
- Make sure that the external monitor (the Dell in this case) is set to be the main monitor.
- Open Firefox on the secondary monitor (the laptop in this case) and maximize the window. *
- The PiP window will open on the main monitor. (the Dell)
Please note that if the browser window is not maximized, the PiP window will open on the same monitor as the browser, on the laptop screen.

Can you confirm that the steps described in Comment 2 are the same with the steps you followed to reproduce this issue?
If so, is the same issue encountered in bug 1545752.

The dependency on the maximization of the window is something I can confirm. The situation with the main and secondary monitor is the opposite here: Notebook screen is main monitor, Dell second monitor, Nightly opened on main one, PiP opened on second monitor. This reproduces with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 (different laptops, both with Intel GPU), same Dell Monitor.
