RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 78858

People

(Reporter: u643781, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/70.0.3538.102 Safari/537.36 Edge/18.18362

Steps to reproduce:

The creation of a message filter on my PC V60.8.0 (32 bit), is not replicated across to Thunderbird V60.8.0 (32 bit) on my laptop. Both running 64 bit Windows 10 (version 1903 build 18362.239)

Actual results:

I open both computers and type in the amended filter on each machine. A very time consuming process that could be resolved considering I use IMAP accounts.

Expected results:

Like to see message filters replicated across all instances of Thunderbird.

How is "replication" supposed to work exactly? Please elaborate how this is related to IMAP.

You clearly have an understanding problem. All I want is to create a message filter on my PC and this to be copied to Thunderbird on my laptop. Just like emails are copied across in an IMAP account and not a POP3 account.

You could implement some "manual" replication scheme by synchronising the msgFilterRules.dat files.

You clearly have an understanding problem.

Well, you wrote "A very time consuming process that could be resolved considering I use IMAP account.".
So you seem to have technical background knowledge how the IMAP protocol makes it easier to implement your feature request (in contrast to POP) and I asked you to share your knowledge.
