Details
With the current implementation it would appear that -> Options -> General -> Return Receipts -> [x] When sending messages, always request a return receipt
covers both:
- Return Receipt (other mail clients make that Read Receipt)
- DSN (Delivery Status Notification)
Having used other mail clients in comparision it is suggested (in order to improve/enhance workflow) to:
- global rename
Return Receipt
toRead Receipt
(which seems more appropriate) - global split options for
RR
andDSN
(each serving its own (diverse) purpose) - global option to disable
RR
||DSN
for mailing lists (where such is frowned upon) - global option to selectively en/disable
RR
||DSN
for specified receipients - extend global option to select folder for
RR
||DSN
(see stale bug 312425)
For the last point it might worth to take a look at how Outlook handles RR
- moves the ingress receipt to deleted folder (which makes sense as opposed to leaving it inbox or moving it to send) and is visibly tagging the egressed message with a read receipt indicator.
