Looks like at least bug 1566545 added a hardcoded · Sponsored string assuming there's sponsored content for DE which seems to be targeting 71 now?
There might be more hardcoded strings other than the above or those added between now and wanting to turn on for more locales.
Bug 1565709 added support for server-provided "engagement" strings, e.g., "Popular" or "Fresh" so the server backend bug 1566707 should support different messages based on the locale when turning on for DE.
