In the last weeks I had some problems with Mozilla 1.0.
After clicking the item in the popup menu for downloading
a file or saving an image it takes some seconds (about 5-10)
till the browser reacts on further mouse clicks. This
problem even remains after upgrading to Mozilla 1.1.
But after deleting the files in
C:\WINDOWS\...\Mozilla\Profiles\default\ur5xlysj.slt
this problem was solved. Maybe that the file downloads.rdf
was the reason for the problem. Its size was about 3-4 MB.
Could it be that the file was too big or corrupted?
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Right click on a link or image
2. Click SaveImageAs or SaveLinkTargetAs
Actual Results: The browser didn't react for 5-10 seconds on further mouse
clicks
and keystrokes.
Expected Results: The browser should react on keystrokes and mouse clicks
immediately

> file downloads.rdf ... size was about 3-4 MB.
I would suggest just deleting that file and let it be recreated on the next
download. Also upgrade to mozilla1.1a (or the pending mozilla1.0.1 release)
which keep that file to a reasonable size.

sairuh: this bug reminds me that we need to release note the workaround for
users of 0.9.9 and 1.0.0 (and PR1). Can you document that for release notes
("... if you used an earlier version with d/l mgr. you may wish to delete
downloads.rdf (where per platform) if you experience sluggish behaviour when
the download manager is opened...").
(I am such a lazy bastard :-)

hi,
i'm probably using the 1.2b,
on a PC / win 98se.
i've been searching for this file:
C:\WINDOWS\...\Mozilla\Profiles\default\ur5xlysj.slt
without succes.
bug:
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Right click on a link (to a .zip or .hqx file)
2. Click SaveLinkTargetAs
results:
a field window to enter the location to save the file,
then no downloading window,
no download
expected:
download the file
(think it was efficient with the 1.2a that i was using before)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. left click on a link (to a .zip or .hqx file)
results
alert message : "this file haven't been saved because
it's not recognized"
expected:
download the file

Please note that this bug now is only about release-noting the problem (at least
that is how i understand comment #4). Comment #6 says it's done, but in the
current (1.2.1) release note I couln't find anything about downloads.rdf.
There is another open bug (bug 159107) about the original problem, that is still
open.
I think that one is closer to the original problem than bug 142824, which this
bug here was previously marked duplicate of.

Daniel, I think yes. I just had to find out that a downloads.rdf of 6.12 MB made
Mozilla 1.7a wait over a minute before saving a small image and then hang
another 20 seconds until being available.
What's that difficult in adding a brief warning in the relnotes?
