As discussed in bug 1542025#c23 I became aware that there is a way to access the profile manager from the user interface.

Upon entry to the About:profiles one of the first things I noticed is that I was offered a button to "Launch profile in a new browser". I have no idea when this was added to Thunderbird, but it needs correction.
