Steps to reproduce

1. Open with a clean profile a site with Social Trackers (e.g.: http://www.psimadethis.com/) in 4 different tabs.

Expected result

• The Social Tracking Protection doorhanger is triggered.

Actual result

• The Social Tracking Protection doorhanger is not triggered. The doorhanger appears only on the 5th tab.

Regression range

• I will try to find if it's a regression as soon as possible.

Additional note:

• On latest Nightly 71.0a1 the doorhanger is not triggered at all.
• This happens on beta in different circumstances, too. I think for some reason the first time you open the site, it's not taken into account.

This is intentional, on beta you can reduce the number stored in the privacy.socialtracking.notification.session.pageload.min pref to make it happen earlier.

I think the description of the bug is it doesn't match the pref number (need one more page loading), but I can't reproduce on my platform now.

Regression range

I looked into this in order to find a regression range, but it seems that it is reproducible on older builds as well; e.g. 71.0a1 (2019-08-13).

FWIW we were able to see this issue on other machines which are outside the SoftVision network. If there's anytime else we can help with here, please let us know!

I can confirm this is, see https://searchfox.org/mozilla-beta/rev/f6d251fe33a8392aba3afe4f052f0a3be5b07798/browser/base/content/browser-siteProtections.js#1151 for more info.

However I don't think this can be reproduced anymore after bug 1570631 was landed.
(Tested using cryptominer page because bug 1585615 blocks the doorhanger of social trackers.)

So I'm going to close this as wontfix unless someone thinks this really needs a fix.
(probably by adding 1 to the preset pref)
