Reduce it at least to as much as the size of the bookmark-star-button.

Verdi has made a mockup/ prototype (see URL field) that showcases the behavior.
Effectively, this means that we'll add horizontal spacers around the address bar that can not be customized away, with the MAJOR difference that they'll be fixed size - as opposed to flexible - and set at the minimum amount of space required to satisfy accessibility and usability requirements.

Can we get a mockup with the search bar present in the toolbar?

Can we get a mockup with the search bar present in the toolbar?

Here's what we need a solution for specifically: Just reducing the width of the address bar while maintaining the container width would make us have more space in front of the address bar than after the search bar, i.e. the toolbar would look unbalanced.

I'm also curious about what should happen to the (invisible) resizer between the address bar and the search bar.

This isn't actionable yet as verdi is still working on a new design.
