Using the Find command brings forth a small window in which one can enter search terms. In order to close the window after searching, one has to press Cancel, which breaks the native UI behavior. The Find window should have a red button in the topleft corner. Moz 1.1 2002-08-10-11

This is the Find window in TextEdit for comparison. Also note that it lacks the yellow hide button. (Does one want to keep the Find window in the dock? Maybe.)
TextEdit is hardly a fair example. This is from terminal (thanks to irc://undernet/Nate1#macintosh ).
Reassigning to XP Toolkit/Widgets.

Confirmed using Chimera/2002081105. Thought this might be a dup, but can't find one.

Er, not Chimera/2002081105...confirmed using FizzillaCFM/2002072203.

Also, regardless of what IE does, I think having the "Cancel" option is silly -- it shouldn't be a modal dialog, and if it isn't modal then you can't really cancel the action.

We no longer feature the Find dialog prominently (I know it's still there for view source, etc, but it's not in the browser window any more)
