The new pinned badge in bug 1631844 is gray and is hard to recognize as a pin, at least on my dark mode configuration.

The other badges in the address bar are blue - bookmarks and open tabs - and they are easy to see in both dark and light modes.

I expect the pinned icon to also be blue (or match the other badges).

Summary: Pinned badge color inconsistent with other badge colors → Pinned badge color (gray) inconsistent with other badge colors (blue)

I just tested in Nightly and can confirm that the gray pinned badge is barely recognizable.

So I would suggest to either

  • make the badge blue (this bug, inconsistent with pin color on New Tab Page),
  • make the pin blue both in the megabar ánd the New Tab Page (consistent and readable) or
  • return to a separate column for these icons (Bug 1610037, consistent with pin color on New Tab Page, and with improved readability of icons and favicons at the cost of just 20px horizontal space?).

I forgot to resolve this, we discussed it with UX this week, and we think the color is fine, unfortunately regardless of the picked color it will not contrast well in certain cases, that's also valid for the other blue icons. Maybe there'll be a more general solution for these badges, but not at the moment.
