STR:

  • Enable desktop zooming (apz.allow_zooming = true)
  • navigate to youtube.com
  • Pinch zoom and pan to the navigation sidebar
  • try to zoom out

Expected:

  • page zooms out

Actual:

  • Zooming does not work and user feels stuck.

Note: Zooming in on the navigation sidebar does not work, not sure if this is by design. If not, that's probably the source of the issue.

Summary: Zooming out over navigation sidebar does not work → Zooming out over navigation sidebar on youtube does not work

Assuming the navigation sidebar is the thing that shows up when you click on the hamburger menu button (with Home/Trending/Subscriptions/Library/History links) then our behaviour seems match Chrome pretty much exactly for touchscreen gestures. For trackpad Chrome allows the pinch gesture over the sidebar while it is open while we do not. Not sure why that is, but I don't think this bug should block enabling pinch for touchscreens.
