I would advocate making option-click download to the default downloads folder,
without the save as dialog or any other dialog requiring user input.
That way you could set your destination once for all files, and save a step
every time you download.
This is how I have all my other browsers set up.

Mozilla doesn't have such a function, but should have.

The suggestion in #2 sounds good to me.
The following changes should, imho, be applied:
==> C (of course)
Summary ==> [RFE] Implement shift-option-click for downloading to default folder
(without further user input)

Sören: If you want a bug with that summary, feel free to make one.
I personally think one modifier key (option) is more than enough for a function
this basic.
First time users would just use a plain click, and get the save-as dialog, and
anyone interested enough to have set their downloads folder (in System
Prefrences at Internet/Web)will use option-click.

There's a Download Folder preference in System Preferences/Internet for a
reason. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this Mozilla-style behavior seems like
working around the fact that all of Mozilla's target platforms don't have
similar settings. Chimera, on the other hand, only targets Mac OS X, so it
should respect the download folder pref and download directly into that folder.
Shift-Option-Click could be implemented to perform the current behavior (ie.
show Save panel) but I think it's more important to have Option-Click directly
download -- the way it does in other Mac browsers.

Ok, closing this as a dup of #151047 as landing that bug will result in clicks
on DL links just saving the file to the user's download folder and launching a
helper app if appropriate. See also bug #169044 which is the pref that enables
the functionality of #151047 due to the security implications of that bug.
