Mozilla 1.1 under a clean installed MacOS X 10.2 on an iBook 700, 640 meg RAM. Selecting "About Plug-ins" crashes Mozilla every time. The app quits, but does not hang the OS.

I am unable to verify this bug as we don't have any Macs running Jaguar in the San Diego office yet. -->reassign to Patrick The patch in bug 154699 is to the MRJ plugin rather than the browser. Be sure the MRJ plugin you are using is dated after yesterday. You may need to check [~]/Library/Internet Plug-ins.

Turning off Java in Mozilla 1.1 fixed the problem. I am now able to select About Plug-ins without the crash. The only MRJ plug-in installed is the one that came with the Mozilla 1.1 package (20020826) @ /Contents/MacOS/Plug-ins/MRJPluginCarbon.plugin The MRJ plugin creation date is: Mon, Aug 26, 2002 1:24pm
My browser also crashes whenever I try to run a java app. Incidentally, the crash logs are identical to that which I get when doing About/Plug-ins. How can "about:plugin" invoke an applet? The stack crawl included contains CreateJavaApplet, which is only called if an applet is being executed. You do realize that multiple crashes get appended to the crash log file?
Understood. But I checked the times on the crash dump, and recreated the crash again, checking the times, to be sure. This is the right dump.
SOLVED by replacing Mozilla:Contents:MacOS:Plug-ins:MRJPluginCarbon.plugin with a copy from the latest nightly. This should be marked as fixed. The updated packaged plugin was *supposed* to end up in 1.1 Release but never did.

the stack here looks like a duplicate of bug 154699?
The root cause of this crash is that Apple's Java plugin has an unquoted <APPLET> element in its 'STR#' resource that describes the MIME types it supports. We attempt to render a nonsense applet in the table, and on Jaguar, with the existing 1.0 MRJPluginCarbon installed, we crash. Apple needs to fix this in their plugin, we've already fixed the crasher in our plugin, so I'm going to mark this as fixed.
