Command-clicking a bookmark (or a page in the history) in the toolbar or the
sidebar should open a new tab or window with the bookmark (acording to the
user's prefrences), just as command clicking a link on a page does.

bug 89922 is for mozilla, not chimera (which implements bookmarks differently),
so reopening. will check to see if there's chimera bug for this.

I think command-selecting a bookmaerk menu item should also spawn a new tab or a
new window. If one has a bunch of folders in the bookmarks toolbar, it's
currently impossible to open a bookmark from one of those folders directly into
a new tab or window. The user needs to first create a tab manually and then
select the desired bookmark from a folder menu.

You can drag a bookmark into the space beside the tabs to open a bm in a new
tab. Yes, it's not obvious.

Ummm.. I suppose you mean Cmd-double-click because Cmd-Click is used to select
multiple items in a non-contiguous manner. That's is an HI standard.

OTOH, If it's possible to trap a Cmd-double-click separately from a
cmd-single-click then it might be OK to do this (seem slike a a good idea to me;-)

Command-doubble click would be ok in the sidebar, but I'd prefer command-click
in the toolbar to maintain behavior consistency with links on pages.

The command key alternate behavior to open new window or tab should also be
present for if you hit command-enter or command-return from the address bar, or
command-select a bookmark from the bookmarks menu (or from the "Go" menu). I
thought those were all present in Mozilla. I think in Mozilla you can
command-click a link to open it in new window and command-option click it to
open it in a new tab. I don't remember for sure, but that would be good
consistent behavior to implement with all URL cicks(or
double-clicks)/menu-selections/keyboard-entries.

I would add that command-clicking on a tab should open it in a new window.

Fixed. Command-clicked bookmarks (on the toolbar, or in the sidebar) open in a
new tab now, if the pref is set.

if you have the pref to open links in new tabs enabled, this works fine:
cmd-clicking a link in the toolbar opens it in a new tab, as does
cmd-double-clicking a link in the bookmarks sidebar.

however, if your pref is set to open in a new window instead, this doesn't work.
filed bug 181007. gonna verify this one, though: tested on 10.2.2 with
2002.11.19.11.
