RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 312619

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:80.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/80.0

Steps to reproduce:

The certificate of a mail server of an IMAP account has expired. A modal "Add security exception" dialogue appears. The only two options to resolve the dialogue and access the main window are "Confirm security exception" or "Cancel". I do not wish to add a security exception and instead want to wait until the server's certificate is renewed, so I click "Cancel".

Actual results:

The "Add security exception" dialogue reappears every time Thunderbird tries to fetch mail. If I want to avoid this, I have to change various fetch settings in the account settings, that I will have to reverse later. Even then, whenever I click on one of the folders of this account or a virtual folder related to it, I have to deal with the dialogue again.

Expected results:

I would like an additional option next to "confirm" and "cancel" to either temporarily stop trying to fetch from the broken server, or to keep trying and silently fail. Both options could be set to expire after an adjustable time or after relaunching TB. A UI indication of either temporary setting as described in bug 493043 is desirable.
