CardDAV is currently hidden behind a pref and a big scary warning. In this bug I'll remove both of those.

Dear Geoff,
thank you very much for taking the time and effort of implementing CardDav for Thunderbird.
I tried enabling CardDav for Thunderbird today and it worked like a charm for the first address book I added.
Adding a second one from the same server resulted in:
"All address books for the specified account have already been added."
I am certain I only added one, but would like to add a second one, I am sure to have access to.
The second address book is shared with me.
I am using Davical 1.1.7 as a backend.
I also noticed that the address book URL is not listed under its properties. So you cannot tell which of your address books is local and which is not. It would be great if one could see where the address book resides.
One last thing. Is there a way to force a sync? At least under Thunderbird 78.2.2 there is no button for this purpose when customizing the Address Book Toolbar. How often is the address book synced from the server?
Should we try to look into the problem of adding a second address book before "unlocking" the feature for everyone?
Thank you very much.
André

To be clear, the preference and warning will not be removed in Thunderbird 78. You should read this post if you haven't already. Bug 1660127 will be in 78.3, bug 1660129 will not be going to 78.
The post I linked to includes some information to help with debugging and where to file a bug, which you should do if you think the code is at fault.
