Using the same color for the track and the meter chunk is not going to
fly of course...
In high contrast, make the colors consistent with <progress>, which
seems like a reasonable thing to do.

As an afterthought, perhaps use Mark system color for sub-optimum and Highlight for optimum?...if it looks okay aesthetically.
That way semantics wouldn't be lost the way it would be with use of a single color...
although that's the way it's currently implemented in blink/edge.

We don't have mark / Marktext as system colors so that's a bit more work. Can you file a follow-up to consider doing this?
