Details |
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:88.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/88.0
Steps to reproduce:
If you zoom in a page or have already set a certain zoom factor (eg. 120%) for a page using "zoom text only", the screenshot tool does not capture the actual area you have selected while taking a screenhot but produces an image of an even higher zoomed version instead that is cut off because the dimensions of the screenshot remain as selected.
Screenshots will be added to demonstrate.
Actual results:
The screenshot produces an image of the exact proportions that were selected but shows parts of the selected website with an even higher zoom level
Expected results:
The screenshot should look exactly as the selected part of the website

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Screenshots' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Thanks for the bug report, Frederik! I can reproduce this bug, too.
I can reproduce in Firefox 87 but not ESR 78, so this appears to be a regression between version 78 and 87.

This got conflated with a different zoom related bug. This one is specifically about screenshots with the "zoom text only" preference set - which was not fixed by the patch on bug 1699410.

This also crops whole page screenshots. Flipping the "Zoom text only" preference does make it go away.
Setting screenshots.browser.component.enabled
to true fixes/works around the issue (found here).

Consider yourself my hero!
After over two years that feature is usable again for me.
Thanks a ton!

There a bit more detail on this same issue in bug 1858053. I'm going to dupe this so we can track it in one place.
