User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:87.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/87.0
Steps to reproduce:
I opened an email saved as an .eml file, and then tried to print it to a pdf file:
file -> print -> print to file, then "Print to file", and "Print".
I'm on Manjaro LInux, Gnome edition
Actual results:
Nothing. The dialog window closed, and the pdf file did not appear in the specified directory
Expected results:
The pdf file should be created.

Kuba,
Thunderbird 87.0 is EOL and replaced by the current 88.0b1.
I can reproduce using Thunderbird 88.0b1, and 89.0a1 on Fedora 33 Workstation, Gnome desktop.
Doesn't matter if it is a saved file or an email selected in Thunderbird for me.

Works for me using 87.0b3 and 88.0b1 on Windows 10, but not 89.0a1.

I haven't tracked bug 1678109. Is this correct? status-thunderbird88: → unaffected
If 88 beta is affected, can we uplift this patch?

What was fixed was a trunk only issue.

This is marked as resolved, shown as fixed in the 89b1 release notes but still present, Linux and TB 89b1.

Just tried again. Works for me.
If you still have a problem, file a new bug, but please check if you can find what might be causing it.

I have OpenSuse Leap 15.2, KDE and 2 physical printers configured.
Printing to PDF prints to the top physical printer in the list in the print dialogue.
This is the same result as for bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1703438
I.e. Printing to file and printing to printers have the same result.
