Steps to reproduce:

Thunderbird updated to Version 90.0b1 (64-bit) recently and now I cannot view any email from the main mail tab.

Email will render normally if email is right-clicked and opened in a new tab.

Actual results:

Every email is replaced with an error like this:

Error encountered while rendering.

Note: I see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428602 — but it seems unlikely to be relevant due to the age of the issue.
