User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.14; rv:88.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/88.0
Steps to reproduce:
I set Thunderbird to display messages as plain text.
For a while I was getting harassed online, for past trauma and fears, and I didn't want to run into images which would trigger those traumas and/or fears.
Not all messages are readable as plain text, some include links or explanations in html but not in plain text, etc.
I have to switch to html to read those images and back to plain text afterwards.
Actual results:
The option is available in View > Message Body As > Simple Html and then back to > Plain Text.
Expected results:
But an easier-to-reach option would be useful, e.g. in the right-click menu.

Maybe my Addon "Allow HTML Temp" is for you:
https://addons.thunderbird.net/de/thunderbird/addon/allow-html-temp/
For more information read:
https://www.thunderbird-mail.de/lexicon/entry/226-allow-html-temp-add-on-to-allow-html-only-temporarily/
Latest addon version on ATN is compatible for Thunderbird 78. The version for upcoming Thunderbird 91 is ready and will be available on ATN soon.
This bug here is maybe a duplicate of RFE Bug 1598857.

FYI: This RFE is now implemented for Thunderbird Supernova in message header "More" menu.

Right, that was implemented as part of bug 1789681.
